greets for haze

*yawns* its 7 in the morning on a saturday... haven't had breakfast yet. currently listening to five for fighting's "Dying" (oops... it just ended). hehe. anyhow, i'm in the mood for some mush, so might as well post one mushy (well i'll try not to) birthday greeting.

i think i've pretty much said enough in lesther's surprise, (oh yeah, i won't post this until sunday. hehe. ^-^) but what the hell.

dearest haze,

its been what? nearly 4 years since i pulled you around the halls of BA getting members to sign your sig sheet. wow, time really flies so fast. i still have no answer for that question you asked me one time when we were at SM north; "paano tayo naging close?". trust me, i'm just as clueless as that guy, jimmy, from beerkada. come to think of it, what's the use in asking? i'm just happy that God gave me to you. really... no kidding... uhm... well... yeah. ^-^

if you've read my message on lesther's gift, you'd probably tell me, "yuck" and "mushy". seriously, i had no intentions of going down memory lane. i wrote the message immediately after i got the note from lesther. it amazes me that i remember a lot of the things we did in college. and it amazes me more that they are mostly happy thoughts, like the ones you see on tv? those mushy seens like walking while talking, sitting on a bench, etc. either that or i'm relating too much on dawson's creek. hehe.

thanks for everything, for the memories, for the unsolicited advice, for the reality checks (since you'll be reading this, i still need them, just so you know. ^-^), the kwento, the concern, the care, the chance to mentally torture you every once in a while *evil grin*, everything. you have no idea how you and cham influenced me to become more positive and look at the world in a different light. yes, i am cynical... and i guess i will always be. but now i know that i don't have to be. there are a lot of beautiful things in life, i just need to appreciate them to be happy, no matter how small and simple they are - and i have you to thank for teaching me this. believe me, i'm a lot happier now than i was when you first met me. i have reasons to smile, reasons to be happy, reasons to say, "hey, this crappy world isn't such a bad place afterall".

you'd probably read my greets for cham as well, the last part is also for you. if you need someone to listen to you, i'm here. if you need to cry, cry on my shoulder. if you need to let your wacky side out, go ahead and let it out on me. if there's a way for me to make you happy, tell me. i've said it over and over; your happiness is important to me. that line's not for cham alone...

happy birthday! and i hope this friendship would last a lifetime. *hugs* (nuninuninuninu... ^-^)

this really isn't something i'd dedicate to you.. it just happened to be the track playing in my list. ^-^

Sleeps With Butterflies
Tori Amos

Airplanes
Take you away again
Are you flying
Above where we live
Then I look up a glare in my eyes
Are you having regrets about last night
I'm not but I like rivers that rush in
So then I dove in
Is there trouble ahead
For you the acrobat
I won't push you unless you have a net

You say the word
You know I will find you
Or if you need some time
I don't mind
I don't hold on
To the tail of your kite
I'm not like the girls that you've known
But I believe I'm worth coming home to
Kiss away night
This girl only sleeps with butterflies
With butterflies
So go on and fly then boy

Balloons
Look good from on the ground
I fear with pins and needles around
We may fall then stumble
Upon a carousel
It could take us anywhere

I'm not like the girls that you've known
But I believe I'm worth coming home to
Kiss away night
This girl only sleeps with butterflies
With butterflies
With butterflies
So go on and fly boy

family stuff

it is true that some good things don't last...
that nostalgia i had for 2 days is now gone...
now i'm trying to be as positive i can, just so this day wouldn't turn out like crap...

last night my dad found out my mom's been lying to him regarding money matters. dad kept talking to me, saying he's disappointed at the fact that he's been working his ass off for more than 20 years and still we don't have savings and the home hasn't improved one bit...

mom's been keeping the family's bank book... and secretly withdraws cash for things we don't know. dad found the bank book last night and questioned mom about it. mom didn't give a sane answer.. i don't know if she even gave an answer...

on saving
my siblings know the value of money... so we save our allowance/salaries to the best we can, so we wouldn't have to depend too much on dad's cash. personally, i don't want to be added to the household expense... dad wants all of us to have savings, that's why he doesn't require me and my sister to pitch in with the household expenses... i'm really sad to see dad so down and disappointed that all his years of work and sacrifice isn't paying off...

mom's sickness
i think no matter how hard she tries, money just slips out of her hands like oil-covered fish. i can't blame her. perhaps that's how she is... but i can't see an ounce of effort to change that. she always told us to save, but she doesn't.

though i'm against this sodeline work of hers, i let it slip 'coz she's happy with what she's doing. but dad told me that this "work" of hers doesn't really pay. there's little to no income at all. i agree that she should stop, but who am i to stop her? she never listens to any of us...

pressure sets in
though dad did tell me that my sister and i are not obliged to help, i still feel i have to do something to fix all this. i don't know, that's how i've been all these years, but i refused to see the problem inside the house. someone else can fix it, so why should i bother? maybe i'm just blowing this out of proportion, but i don't like the scenario that my parents would get into a big fight JUST BECAUSE of money...

i think my responsibilities in the household are going to take a serious turn...

intangible perks

just got back to reality... galera outing was a total blast!! even if it was technically just a day, it was loads of fun!!

the night before galera
actually went to chill's party before meeting up with friends. as always i felt quite out of place, since people there were either groupies or rockstars (miro of stonefree was there, jaycee&honey were also there, erika, janoy [bridge]'s girlfriend [or ex, i dunno] was also there). we ate dinner and had a couple of beers, then i was off to cubao... excited to see cham.

starbucks rendezvous
got a cab from pasig going to cubao. the driver was very... uhm... friendly. i was fine not talking on my way to araneta, but he just kept on talking. oh well, at least he wasn't out to mug me. he told me his meter was broken. i told him i'd give him a hundred bucks for the fare, he agreed. when we got to araneta, he sked for 20 bucks more... so much for mr. friendly driver.

got to starbucks, there they were, there she was. i haven't put my bag down when she gave me a warm tight hug. that felt so good, like all the frustrations brought by the week that passed were washed away. i was very tired when i got there, but i was happy to see her, and haze, and vinz, and everybody else. had coffee just to make sure i don't doze off (which i think wasn't a good idea. i only had like ONE beer). we went on with the usual chat of things and what not, while waiting for the others to come...

sheila and chona were the last to arrive, but they came with a surprise. sheila got us a free ride!! hehe. thought the van was quite crowded, i didn't mind. being with friends in a crowded van is more fun than irritating. hehe.

are we there yet?
probably the most abused question during the whole trip. coffee struck hard on cham, like she was on crack. we kept on laughing and joking around at like 2 in the morning!! we were all excited to see the ocean, we kept asking, "may dagat na?" i wanted to catch some shut-eye, as i slept 1am last friday, but no... i was awake the whole trip.

journey to the ocean
when we got to batangas, we were an hour earlier than expected. jolee ang aileen took care of the tickets and boarding passes, while we wait at the port, less noisy and more sleepy... i couldn't sleep though, the chairs were like the ones i have in office, which gives me major back pains... oh well, an hour flew by fast.

i personally thought we were boarding some kind of cruise ship, with a dock(i dunno what its called) where we can stay and see the look at the sunrise. instead we boarded a big canoe (like the ones seen in survivor, except that its motor powered). still couldn't sleep, the journey was quite bumpy, and we were packed like buses during rush hour. we still got to see the sunrise though, it was beautiful.

finally, land
after several hours of travelling by sea, we finally got to the island. the place was simple, but amazing. the sea, the sand, everything... after putting our things down, we made plans on food. we got to the local market to buy stuff we need for lunch. (if you've read this far, notice that i've been awake for 24 hours...). the other's stayed in and slept, while we were preparing food. that was just funny!! we had so much of a hard time just trying to make fire. and when we did, the cooking part was more troublesome, some parts were brunt, some were raw. we had to do quality control to make sure, the food was really cooked. the squid thing was a total disaster... i had to do damage control and re-cook it in another way. honestly, it really looked gross... funny thing is that they finished eating it. haha!! no, don't get me wrong... nothing bad really happend. we just got into a lot of cooking bloopers and had to take some action to somehow salvage lunch. hehe. it a fun!! lots of fun!!

lunchtime, everyone had a great meal (i think), we then went island hopping. we went to white beach, which was like eastwood on water. went to ride a banna boat (which was the highlight of the whole trip), it was awesome!! like an EK ride with no restrictions. it was definitely a speed rush!! my legs were shaking so much in trying to keep myself on the boat.

we then went to coral garden, it was so beautiful. saw a lot of fish, and beautiful coral landscape. i wanted to explore more, but it was time to head back to the house.

was the first one to hit the showers, cham was next. finally got some time to sleep. cham slept beside me, the feeling of having her beside me was so peaceful... there were no awkward feelings. even got a pic of us in bed. (man, that pic is so pretty). i was happier waking up seeing her beside me, than the thought of finally having some rest for more than 24 hours...

went for a long walk to the dinner place. it wasn't all that good. food could use more flavor, but meh... took few more pics, then headed back home.

was too tired to party, was waiting for aileen to drop the question, "who wants some booze?!?!" man, i could've gone a round or two, but the whole trip and the day's activities literally sucked me out dry. got to sleep beside haze and cham, one of the best sleep i've had in a long time...

then the morning comes
woke up early, as usual. found majo washing the dishes at around 6:30 am. talk about wife material. we started preparing brunch. now its a lot easir than the grill. handling the frying pan was a lot easier than handling a grill. anyway, some watched sunday morinng tv, some chat, all were eating.

then we got ready to buy some souvenirs. i unfortunately was the last one to take the shower, so i had to pack up after. got so little time to buy some stuff. i could've bought nicer "pasalubongs", but we were leaving in like half an hour. (sorry, anj).

time to go back to batangas, the trip seemed a lot shorter then last time, anyhow, everyone was tired.
i got home at around 7pm. no more time to do other things... i just ate dinner and slept...

the intangible perk
though going to a place like galera is always great, going with friends and sharing the wonderful experience is what makes it greater. i can decide to go there by myself, do the same things we did, and probably more, but in the end it will never compare to the fun i had when i'm with them, even in the simplest and dumbest things we did. from that hug by cham at starbucks, to the constant "are we there yet?", to the long boat ride, to the cooking session turned quality/damage control, to sarah geronimo's "lumingon ka lang", to breafkfast, to haze and vinz's moment come sunday morning, too buying souviners, to going home. i enjoyed every second of it. and i have my friends to thank for it. i know i'm not very good at expressing gratitude, but thanks. a lot. really...

i really don't know if i should be happy that third party members (i.e. boyfriends, significant others, anyone not inside the circle of friends) weren't allowed to come with us. i got to spend more time with cham during all this. i woulndn't have if toff was around... i asked her if she wished toff was with us. she replied with a ,"medyo". i was expecting a solid "yes" from her, but that's what i got. i dunno what it means, but i really didn't dwell on it.

the tight hug, the company, the "asaran", the chance to take care of her during this whole trip, those were what made this whole trip a lot more fun... thanks cham. really. i won't think about that day that i will get sick of this whole set up we have. i'm just happy i got to experience galera with you...

things and what not...

galera outing is just a few days away. seems my excitement is reduced to nothing... i may be excited to when its there, but right now i'm feeling all things very remotely associated to excitement.

probably another "cynical bastard mode" day for me, though i really have no reason for being such. i just feel so tired and bored and whinny and crappy...

not in the mood to shop for beach stuff, its been a freakin' month, and i haven't gotten my salary yet. might as well stop working (but that wouldn't be fair... since my boss doesn't know we're starving to death.).

really got nothing to say. think i've spent the last few days ranting about everything i could possibly rant about; work, life, friends, family, how the world works, that sort of crap...

dad's home. i'm happy, but things still bother me (like how to do my boss' task, which will take me around 3-4 days to finish, and still turn out as garbage). last night he talked to me about going to workshops on anime drawings. it came a bit as a surprise, then my sister told me he looked at my works, and was convinced i could actually make something out of it. glad to know he supports what i do, i wish he's always there to do that. i don't get too much encouragement, especially from family. got a new phone. not really all excited. i can't figure out why they gave me an option of choosing which phone to take when there were barely enough for them. they were actually fighting over it. i didn't get into it, as i was happy with my 3310, but they offered me a choice. heck, what do you want me to do? say no?

i bumped into this schoolmate in HS, noemi, on my way home. she belongs to the same batch as my ex, quite high profile ('coz she's pretty). she got my number and sent rather weird quotations like coming with me if i go some place far away from her, asking me if i gave everything for her when she did, asking what she is in my life, stuff like that. maybe i'm just reading too much into it. she was one of the girls in HS i had a huge crush on. she was also an ex of one of my barkada. anyway, enough of that... its not like i have a chance at her or anything. she's still pretty though, and i love the way she laughs... cofee or dinner with her would be nice, but i won't keep my hopes up.

ranted my guts off to my cyber friend, anj. was quite grumpy while talking to her. didn't know if i made any sense. i guess i didn't, that's probably why people don't like to listen to me when i rant. all i say is a bunch of incoherent sentences... like now.

wish someone would sing "tell me where it hurts" to me and really mean the words. i feel unloved at the moment...

Tell Me Where It Hurts
MYMP

Why is that sad look in your eyes
Why are you crying?
Tell me now, tell me now
Tell me, why you're feelin' this way
I hate to see you so down, oh baby!

Is it your heart
Oh, that's breakin' all in pieces
Makin' you cry
Makin' you feel blue
Is there anything that I can do

[CHORUS:]
Why don't you tell me where it hurts now, baby
And I'll do my best to make it better
Yes, I'll do my best to make the tears all go away
Just tell me where it hurts
Now, tell me
And I love you with a love so tender
Oh and if you let me stay
I'll love all of the hurt away

Where are all those tears coming from
Why are they falling?
Somebody, somebody, somebody leave your heart in the cold
You just need somebody to hold on, baby

Give me a chance
To put back all the pieces
Take hold of your heart
Make it just like new
There's so many things that I can do

[Chorus]
[Instrumental]
Is it your heart
Oh, that's breakin' all in pieces
Makin' you cry
Makin' you feel blue
Is there anything that I can do

[CHORUS]

Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me baby
Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me
And I'll do my best to make it better
Yes, I'll do my best to make the tears all go away
Just tell me where it hurts
Now, tell me
And I love you with a love so tender
Oh, and if you let me stay
I'll love all of the hurt away

struck with nostalgia

dunno why, but i suddenly miss high school.

happen to catch up with peter, jasper, jack, and jay over at ym. conversation was the usual no-topic, mostly goofing around, having-a-good-time kind of talk. then this topic on that elusive reunion came up...

personally, i've given up on it. sure i wanna see my batchmates again, but i don't like the idea of me having to bust my ass calling/texting/whatever mode of communication possible to contact the other and inform them about it. jasper (or was it jack...) was right. its a lot better if the event was spontaneous. starting as a joke, we ended up making plans to go out last night.

everything was alright, until jay told us he had to stay in the office a little longer. raincheck -- what's new?

anyhow, we decided to move it to friday. probably dinner/coffee/beer/whatever somewhere in the timog area (wherever that is). i tld winnie about it. she was all for it if it was last night, but friday? uhm... lets just say she wasn't all that excited.

ended up meeting with her after she took care of some business with people from the College of Fine Arts (memorable lines were: only God can make a tree. what that means? go figure.). we headed for SM and grabbed dinner. lucky me, it was her treat. got to catch up on old times. didn't really realize how much i missed her. its been about a year since we last had a decent conversation. i had fun talking to her again, even if she's still the same cynical, no-nonsense chick i came to know and i'm the less cynical bastard who found happiness in the comfort of people called "friends" (note: this doesn't mean winnie has no friends, she's just cynical with regard to some, or most, of our HS classmate who still make childish immature comments on life and what not). still understand her though, always have. she's one tough, scary girl. and its touching to know that among our HS classmates, i'm one of the few she wants to see. she says that we (meaning me, peter and jasper) were the only ones in the batch who talk with sense. (see? strong words... she IS a brat, but i like her just the same). after dinner we parted ways. i went home, she went to buy a new blouse.

called marissa when i got home. talked to her for 2 hours or so. the only thing that made us hang up was the fact that i still have work (yeah right) the next day and it was already midnight. she wanted me to stay on the line and talk more. guess she does miss me. haven't talked to her for a while too. didn't wanna miss her birthday. anyhow, as soon as i was going to hit the sack, jenny called.

spent half an hour or so talking to her. she just got unlimited calls from globe, hence the call. got to chat about things and what not, then hung up.

damn i miss the days when i was in HS. it was fun, even if we were branded as renegades by the administration...

and by writing this i thought i could get out of the said nostalgic state. hope this wears off before it reverses its effects on me...
